W3: From Novice to Knowledgeable: Newer Directors Tell What They Had to Learn FILLING

Target Audience: Newer academic library directors or people who aspire to be academic library directors
Learning Outcomes:
1. Participants will create their own priority list for skill development aimed at excelling as a library director or becoming a new library director.
2. Participants will brainstorm ways to facilitate skill development in areas they would like to advance.

A panel of newer academic library directors will outline the skills they felt were most valuable to them in securing a director's position and then thriving in that role. Panelists will discuss: budget management, change management, personnel management, project management, collection development, balancing administrative and faculty duties and others. Participants will have an opportunity to select a skill they would like to explore and work in small groups to develop a learning plan for this skill.

Separate registration fee required - June 8 deadline
Registration fee includes: program, handouts, and afternoon refreshments.
